He graduated from Valley High School in Clermont in 1999 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from the University of Northern Iowa in 2004. His educational journey laid the foundation for a successful career and a life marked by integrity and compassion.
Career and Professional Life
Joey’s professional path was characterized by dedication and excellence. As a Market Development Manager for LP Building Products, he was respected for his strategic acumen and commitment to his work. Colleagues admired his collaborative spirit and the genuine relationships he cultivated throughout his career.

On November 16, 2019, Joey married the love of his life, Crystal Gayle Sokol Gray, at Cedar Ridge Winery in Swisher, Iowa. He embraced his role as a devoted husband and stepfather to Parker and Camdyn Gray, whom he supported wholeheartedly. Joey’s family was the center of his world, and he found joy in the simple moments shared with them.

Joey’s passions extended beyond his professional life. An avid supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, and Green Bay Packers, he relished cheering on his favorite teams. Services and Memorial
A visitation was held on Monday, September 23, 2024, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, followed by a memorial service on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the same location. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Foundation 2, reflecting Joey’s commitment to supporting others.
